A cost-effective deviation control product
The Integral blade Stabilizer (IBS) is manufactured from high-strength alloy steel as a single piece tool. The unitized construction features three spiraled ribs designed to minimize down hole torque, reduce damage to the hole wall and ensure maximum fluid circulation. The IBS is well suited for use in most formations from soft and sticky to hard and abrasive. It is available in both bottom-hole and string designs, providing the flexibility to run it anywhere in the BHA.
When the blades wear down to an unacceptable diameter, the tool should be removed from the drilling assembly and returned for servicing – OTI where it can usually be redressed to full gauge size.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
|
|
APPLICATIONS:
- A packed hole assembly typically requires the placement of multiple IB stabilizers throughout the three zones of stabilization. Contact an ACE-O.C.T.G. representative for BHA recommendations.
- A pendulum assembly is a recommended application for the IBS due to its unitized design. For the most effective pendulum assembly, two stabilizers should be run separated by one drill collar.
- Vibration and drill collar whip can be reduced through the placement of stabilizers in the BHA and upper drill collar string.
Notes:
- All weights are approximate.
4¾" through 12¼" hole sizes are nominal +0, -1∕32"; 13 ¾" through 17½" hole sizes are nominal +0, -1∕16"; 18" through 28" hole sizes are nominal +0, -⅛". Non-standard tolerances are available on request.

The stabilization system designed for remote or space limited locations
This tool is designed around a rugged, one piece mandrel constructed of high-strength alloy steel with ample tong space for handling and extra length for recutting connections. The rig-replaceable, integral blade sleeves are available in three types (listed below).
|
The Ezy-Change Type II is a popular choice for remote areas or where storage problems exist. One mandrel series can be used for several different hole sizes, reducing the need for a large mandrel inventory on location. The sleeves are easily changed on the rig floor either when changing hole size or when the sleeves have worn under gauge. This versatility also allows a convenient way to change the type of stabilizer wear surface to match drilling conditions. A simple plate plate-type sleeve breaker (available on request) enables easy make-up and breakout.
|
The Ezy-Change Type II is available in five tool series covering hole sizes from 8½" and 28" and can be ordered as a string or bottom-hole tool.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
The 17½” and smaller Sleeves feature three spiral blades; larger sizes have four straight blades.
- Annular flow area is Maximized to ensure adequate circulation.
- Hardfacing choices include Type 300, Type W granular Tungsten carbide and Type 200.
- One-piece mandrel Design is simple and Strong.
- Long fishing and bottom neck provide plenty of tong space and room for recuts.
